Why Madurez?
1. Thirty years in regulated
financial services.
2. No vendor agenda.
Your board deserves both.
I founded Madurez AI because the AI advice reaching most boards is either too generic to act on, too conflicted to trust, or delivered by people who have never operated inside a regulated financial services firm. I have.
For 23 years I built and ran a regulated financial services firm — through a management buyout, significant growth, and an eventual sale in 2024. Every strategic, operational and governance decision I made in that time had real consequences attached. That experience is the foundation of everything I do.
Alongside industry work, I’ve spent time as a postgraduate lecturer and academic contributor in fintech, banking, regulation, sustainable finance, risk management, and insurance. That academic grounding gives the Madurez methodology its structure, rigour, and evidence‑based approach.
I have no technology platform to sell, no vendor relationships to protect, and no implementation revenue to earn. My only commercial interest in any engagement is the clarity of the client in front of me. That independence is not a marketing position. It is a structural choice — and it is what makes the advice worth having.
Madurez AI is the practice that emerged from all of it. Board-level, sector-specific, and grounded in thirty years of working inside the industry I now advise. I work with a small number of clients each year.
If you are a CEO, MD, or board chair in regulated financial services and AI governance is on your agenda, I would welcome a conversation.

Founder led expertise
Dr. Jullian K Shawcross
In recent years, my curiosity about AI evolved into a deep, focused obsession. I realised that the combination of strategic and operational experience, academic insight, and a relentless desire to understand emerging technology created the ideal foundation for helping organisations navigate AI with clarity and confidence. Madurez AI exists to give leaders clarity — not hype. It’s designed to help organisations move forward safely, strategically, and with a full understanding of what it will take to succeed with AI.

What Madurez AI is — and is not
Being clear about the Madurez offering is critical for both parties, so let's summarise it from the off.
Madurez AI is
Direct
I speak as I find, not what the client wants to hear. Diplomatic in delivery, honest in content.
Measured
Neither alarmist nor dismissive about AI. Grounded in evidence, not hype or fear.
Authoritative
Confidence from 30 years of experience, not from performance or credential display.
Independent
No stake in the outcome beyond the client's clarity. This is structural, not aspirational.
Intellectually rigorous
The DBA is not decoration. The thinking shows in every output, conversation, and report.
Madurez AI is not
Evangelical about AI
That is a vendor trait. Enthusiasm that serves the sale is not independence.
Jargon-heavy
That is a technology consultant trait. Boards need clarity, not vocabulary.
Vague or hedging
That is a generalist consultant trait. Useful advice is specific or it is not useful.
Transactional
That is a volume business trait. Quality of client over quantity, always.
For everyone
Selectivity is not arrogance.
It is a commitment to doing work that is genuinely useful rather than broadly sold.
It is quality control — for both parties.
